Hioki Creations: A Children’s Nonprofit Organization
Hioki Creations was founded as a nonprofit children’s organization by Mel Hioki in 2019 as a way to continue to share and build upon his passion and interest in creating books for children that focus on social issues that affect all of our lives. Mel came into this work after spending his career as an award-winning art director working with Charles Schulz for MetLife, Warner Bros., and Will Vinton Studios for KFC.
In 2016 he wrote his first children’s book The Other Side of The Pond about hunger awareness. His second book, The Day Planet Rainbow Lost Its Color, was inspired by our shared experience of living in a diverse country like the United States, and the importance for children to learn the value of diversity and inclusion. His third book, The Bully, Bobeetle & the Magical Turning Table was created to plant the seed of an important message: treat others the way you want to be treated. Hioki Creations has now become something much bigger than these first three books. We are creating an entire online world of animated episodes and live-action shows featuring Ms. Ali that engage and empower children through stories with a sense of purpose. Hioki Creations makes valuable content for all ages to foster kindness, compassion, and openness in the hearts and minds of children to make the world a more accepting and loving place.
